Woe, shitty art be upon ye instead
I had fallen a little behind and drew this on the same day as day 12– But I drew 12 first and kind of ran out of steam for this. But hey, some of my best memories of 2020 are in fact Animal Crossing-related. Remember when everyone went bonkers for that one cat.
Of the canon Hatsune Mikus, my favorite so far (I am not well versed in Vocaloids) is “Confessions of a Rotten Girl” Miku.
Okay genuinely hear me out it’s not as bad as you might think. A) The redraws here are scenes FROM THE MANGA (Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Blazing Exploration Team) so don’t look at me like that. 2) I played Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Darkness when I was much younger and I just really thought Grovyle was super cool. It’s the same kind of kiddy crush as a lot of kids remember having on Kovu from the Lion King 2.
I do not generally do the whole genderbend/genderswap thing just because to me it’s a slippery slope of “What should a woman version of [x] look like without being weird about how women ‘should’ look.” However ☝️ Ghirahim (from LOZ: Skyward Sword) seemed like a fun chance because he’s already one flavor of androgynous. Trade his bob for longer hair and put a little pizzazz on his chest. It still fits him.
I cheated a little again. I had already made the two bracelets with the card suit symbols a number of months back. I always intended on a sort of Wonderland-y theme with it (I love me some card suit theming in general) so I got some letter beads and made more to the set!
So there’s a lot of story behind this that I won’t give the full version of in this text box. The girl on the left is my old-old online persona and roleplay OC muse, Kaytlyn. She used to be everything I’d hope to be as an adult– I kind of hated myself when I was young. And one thing that was instantly upsetting to me as a teenager would be getting called “boyish”, because my egg hadn’t cracked yet and I was deeply in my head about being A Woman™️. Becoming Not A Woman has been one of the most satisfying and freeing things in my life.
This is a redraw of a screenshot from Trigun Stargaze that I absolutely adore. Poor Midvalley. Anyway I couldn’t get Vash to look the way I wanted so I saved a Just Midvalley Version.
So the day of this prompt I couldn’t think of any flandersization in the fandoms I’m in that I could draw in a funny way beyond Eridan Ampora which I was very close to doing instead of this. But then I thought of ginger Striders and thought eh why not. There’s plenty more Strider interpretations and some I enjoy more than this but I am a sucker for freckles on occasion.
I almost, ALMOST, didn’t do “Not Your Fandom” for both the “I hate the linguistic drift of the meaning behind the word LARP to mean what we used to call ‘posers'” reason and because I couldn’t think of anything I don’t consider myself in the fandom of that I wanted to make art of. If I like it enough, why not get into the fandom. Then I remembered I do like the concept of SCPs but I have probably thankfully kept myself away from the fandom.
